WordPress is a flexible Web publishing platform that has been downloaded over 60 million times. WordPress’ popularity and ease of use spawned a rich plugin ecosystem that gives users the ability to accept donations. The amount of WordPress Plugins available for download are endless, to sift through them and find one or two that you can actually use can be horrendous.
So, here in this post I have compiled a list of top 15 free wordpress plugins for tags. The below list contains plugins that I have tried and tested, and for the most part have used in a live site, or hope to pretty soon. I hope its helpful. 1. Associated Posts
Associated Posts enables you to associate posts and pages with each other and to display posts on any pages. You can easily select posts in the “Edit Page” Mode and attach them to this page.
2. WordPress Shortcodes
WordPress Shortcodes is a free WordPress plugin that brings an amazing set of beautiful and useful elements to your site.
3. WP MediaTagger
This extensively configurable plugin comes packed with a bunch of features enabling media tagging, including search and media taxonomy.
4. BNS Featured Tag
Plugin with multi-widget functionality that displays most recent posts from specific tag or tags (set with user options). Also includes user options to display.
This plugin is a follow-up to the post which I wrote a few years ago. – The idea was (and still is) to equip pages with tags and include their number in a combined posts and pages tag-cloud.
6. Media Library Assistant
Enhances the Media Library; powerful [mla_gallery], taxonomy support, IPTC/EXIF/PDF processing, bulk/quick edit actions and where-used reporting.
7. WP-ImageFlow Plus
Flow style gallery with Lightbox popups. Uses images from either the WordPress Media Library or an uploaded directory of images.
8. Greg’s High Performance SEO
Offering direct control over more than 100 separate on-page characteristics important for SEO, while loading fewer than 700 lines of code for each ordinary page view and playing nicely with other plugins.
9. Tag Groups
This plugin enables you to organize tags (or categories, or custom terms) in groups. The group membership is saved in the native WP table field term_group, so it won’t create additional tables in the database.
10. Strictly Auto Tags
Strictly AutoTags is a plugin that scans an English language post for words that could be used as tags and then orders them so that the most relevant words get added against the post.
11. Tweet Blender
Better than Twitter’s own widgets – Tweet Blender is tag-aware and has support for multiple authors, lists, hashtags, and keywords all blended together.
12. Most Popular Tags
Most Popular Tags is a WordPress plugin that allows you to display your blog’s most popular tags or categories as a sidebar widget.
With the Portfolio plugin you can create a unique page for displaying portfolio items consisting of screenshots and additional information such as description, short description, URL, date of completion, etc.
14. WP-CMS Post Control
Post Control from WordPress CMS Modifications gives you complete control over your write options for every user level/role.
15. 3D Tag Cloud
3D Tag Cloud allows you to display your site’s tags using jquery that rotates the tags in 3D. It works just like a regular tags cloud, but is more visually exciting.
